When starting a new car scan, the VIN capture option appears right at the top of the list - before any photo or scan options - shown as VIN NOT PROVIDED.
It's the first step in the process and is crucial for identifying the vehicle properly.
Available VIN capture modes
After clicking on the VIN NOT PROVIDED option, you'll be redirected to a screen showing all available VIN scanning options:
Choose the correct mode based on the vehicle's origin and label format (you can select any label format for each origin if necessary):
1. EU VIN
Select this option for vehicles originating from Europe.
VIN is usually located on metal plates near the windshield, driver’s side door frame, or under the hood.
Often uses a barcode format compatible with the EU VIN scanner.
2. US/CA VIN
Use this for vehicles from the United States or Canada.
VIN is typically at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side.
Commonly includes a barcode in a standardized format.
3. ANY TEXT
This option is for capturing any textual information that might be useful for documentation, even if it’s not an actual VIN.
4. Keyboard icon (manual entry)
If scanning doesn’t work, the VIN is damaged or you would like to input any other information - select the keyboard icon to manually enter the details, e.g. registration number.
Important note
The app remembers the last used VIN capture mode. For example, if you previously selected EU VIN + barcode, this same mode will be automatically pre-selected in your next session.
You can always change it manually if needed.
